All our UK team members are unpaid volunteers with a variety of skills and experience.
Chairperson / founder

Wendy Machin - Retired social work manager
Wendy has visited the projects twice a year since FFCZ was established and works closely with our partners in Zambia to help prioritise objectives and monitor progress. She works extremely hard coordinating the operational, networking and fundraising aspects of the charity in the UK.
Founder

Alan Gillespie - social work trainer
Alan has also visited the projects in Zambia many times since living in Zambia. As well as assisting Wendy, he develops training programmes to support the staff and volunteers and designs support systems for child bereavement with his training partner Amanda Brunt.
Founder
Outi Puttonen - Doctor of Medicine.Outi was also a friend of Rose and together with her parents and friends she supports the charity from her home in Finland.
Our other key members help with fundraising, monitoring budget decisions and give support to the development of the projects and charity.
In Zambia we have teams of very hard-working people, made up of paid workers and volunteers.
Project manager

Musonda Nkandu
Rose's brother is now the manager of the FFCZ project in Kantolomba. He is responsible for funding and budgets, policy and procedures, strategy, planning and progress, building programmes, staff management and training, liaison with funding partners, sponsors, government agencies, NGOs and many other aspects of the administration and day-to-day running of the project.
Project coordinator

Grace Malambo
Grace is responsible for the social work side of the Kantolomba project. She assists and supervises the local women volunteers, oversees the running of the school and well-being of the children. She visits the homes of the most needy families and especially those who have recently lost a parent making sure they have the support they need. She also works with the volunteers on income-generating activities and helps educate the community on issues such as health and children's rights.
The teachers
Most of the teachers are from the local area, some are qualified and all have received in-service training. They all work extremely hard to ensure the children get a good education. They have now developed a curriculum that is balanced and relevant to the children's needs.
The volunteers
It is thanks to the hard work of many women from the community that the project continues to be successful. As well as supervising the children at break times, they also serve the meals at lunchtime and help the school stay clean and tidy.
Project Co-ordinator and administrator

Peter Tembo
Having originally co-ordinated the OVC project when it was part of the St Lawrence organisation, Peter now works full-time for FFCZ running the project in the Misisi compound and St Catherines school. He also oversees the other FFCZ projects and advises on how they can be developed further. He is assisted by a social worker.
The carers

Local members of the committee and volunteers are responsible for identifying families and children in Misisi compound that are in most need of help and support. Many of them care for large extended families themselves, including children of deceased relatives. The committee shares responsibility for deciding how the resources are deployed.
